tsubasa chronicle
This series focuses mainly on the main characters from Card Captor Sakura, Sakura and Syaoran, although this time Syaoran is more of the main character. Sakura has basically lost all her memories, and Syaoran promises he will get them back. Yukito (also from Card Captor Sakura) transports them to the 'Time-Witch,' Yuuko (xxxHolic). The meeting that follows appears in both series, when Yuuko then gives Syaoran Mokona (Magic Knight Rayearth) to take them to different worlds. This series crosses over with quite a lot of CLAMP's works, and so far I have spotted Card Captor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Chobits, Angelic Layer, XXX/199, xxxHolic, CLAMP School of Detectives, Shin Shukuden, and probably many more.

you are my love
You Are My Love (Japanese) is sung by Makino Yui, whom is the seiyuu of Sakura, and is featured within the series itself. The song is a reflection of how Sakura feels that she is missing something about someone in her memories, that she should remember it, even though she can't, and that makes it even worse for her. In the series, there are two versions of You Are My Love, but Sakura sings her own version in Japanese in episode 20, Gogo no Piano, to a cafe customer who comes in and begins to play the piano (Oruha). Throughout the song she has flashbacks of herself and Syaoran when they were younger, though, these are things she will never remember afterwards, before finishing the song with a single tear and falling asleep on the floor.

why
Sakura's version of You Are My Love has grown on me since I first listened to it. I remember, way back when I first heard it, that it had such a melancholy feel to it, such a feeling of sadness to it, that it really fit the emotions Sakura would have if she knew that she couldn't ever remember. Even though at the time I wasn't too keen on the way Makino-san sung it, in the way it didn't sound big and professional and 'wowing', it's wowing in its own way when you think about it. Sakura sounds lost, small, and sad; that's how she should sound. And Makino-san really brings that through in the song itself; it's perfect in that regard. It suits Sakura so much in the way its sung and the words.

The last line also really makes it for me, especially in relation to the episode she sang it in as well, since one tear escapes. But, it sums all the whole thing, because she does miss him so much. It really impacted on me and has every time since. It's really heartwrenching.

I'm also a really big sucker for piano songs. If there's piano, especially solo piano in a song, I will usually go especially crazy over the song in general. The use of piano in always make songs that much more sadder, in my view, and since this is the intention of the song, to describe Sakura's feelings, it's heartbreaking. Even all the solos of the piano, without Sakura singing, are all equally as striking as when it's together. The song is brightened up with lots of other instruments, but just the piano. I think that really works.
